Former Harrier leaves Imps
Striker Gary Birch has left League 2 side Lincoln City after failing to agree a new contract.
Birch was offered a new deal by City in May of this year. Because Birch made over 25 appearances for the Imps this triggered a clause in his contract saying that Lincoln must offer him a new deal. However, Birch reportedly wanted a two-year deal and midweek living expenses so as to avoid so much travelling from his West Midlands home.
Birch scored 10 times in 45 games for Lincoln and his release is sure to interest a number of League 2 and Conference clubs.
Birch played 14 times for Stuart Watkiss' Harriers in the relegation season of 2004-2005. He scored 3 goals.
